New Russian Satellite Mayak
A new small satellite has just been launched which will deploy a large reflector once in orbit and has the potential to be very bright. We now have a provisional orbit from Space-Track which you can use to generate predictions.

Update 3: We have had several more conflicting observation reports. Some people have reported a complete "no show", but several others have reported seeing Mayak in agreement with our predictions, although not as bright as expected and flashing, as would be expected for a rotating object with large, flat surfaces. Space-Track have still not given the object a name. It could be that the people who did not see it were unlucky with the attitude and Sun-satellite geometry during the pass.
